Inserting Mother of Pearl or Abalone shell into the surface of an object (Wood in this case) is called an inlay. In old days this was done all by hand, nowadays we use a laser cutter to cut and engrave our wood and hand inlay the pieces.
Wood is glued to a soft rubber cover for better protection and a slip-free grip. Your case will not be just an art statement but it will protect your phone from drops and in normal conditions, it will outlast your phone.

Overall, I’d recommend purchasing this case. In person the design and wood is stunning. I was able to personalize it which I’m very happy about and the inlay is beautiful. My only small criticism would have to be the “stars” in the design aren’t perfect, but it’s BARELY noticeable and I would purchase this again now that I’ve seen it on my phone. I love it very much!!

It looks really great, but I don't think it will protect my screen very well because there's no beveled edges.

I love this phone case!! Ozzy was super fast to respond and even provided extra customization that I at first didn’t know I could do (changed the animal to a horse in the center). On top of all that he had my case finished the next day and shipped super fast! I highly recommend him!!

BEAUTIFUL! Exactly what I wanted. Fits perfectly and has been protective. I love touching it as well. The moons and waterfalls are as lovely as ever after a couple months of use. I was concerned it may be too slick but I guess the etching helps keep it in place. I will order others.
